DIY Spring Wreath!

29 April 2017
Looking for more ways than one to celebrate this warm and colourful season? Need an extra something to decorate your house with for Spring? Try making your own Spring Wreath! Spring Wreaths are a classic addition to your spring décor, and a beautiful resemblance of the season. A Spring Wreath that you have made yourself is especially sure to impress your guests! So, if you are feeling creative, here’s what you will need:

Supplies:

Plain wreath
White Spray paint (Or your choice of a pastel colour)
Scissors
Hot glue gun
An assortment of fresh flowers of your choice
A ribbon of your choice

Directions:

In a safe space clear of anything that can get paint on it, take a large, unfolded piece of newspaper and place it on the ground. Then, take your wreath and lay in on top of the newspaper.

Next, take your spray paint, and depending on your custom made design, you can either spray the entire wreath, half the wreath, or do a frosting of colour as to show both the spray paint, and the original colour of the wreath.

After you have spray painted your wreath to your liking and have allowed it to fully dry, take your assortment of fresh flowers, and cut the stems about 3/4ths of the way up, leaving about 1/4th of the stem left (this is so that you have enough stem space for sticking them inside the wreath).

Once you have trimmed your flowers, stick each flower into the grooves of the wreath by their stems. Do this until your wreath is evenly filled. If there are any flowers that are sticking out too much, or not sitting properly in the wreath, apply a drop of hot glue onto the back of the stems and stick them to the wreath.

Lastly, take your ribbon, and tie it into a bow. Taking your tightly formed bow, choose a spot on the wreath (top, bottom, or off to the side) apply a medium sized dot of hot glue to the centre back of your ribbon (where the knot is created) and stick it on!  You have now made your very own spring wreath!

Side note- Any additional decorations you may want to add on you can! Such as small eggs, bird nests, etc. Just make sure to apply an even amount of hot glue to the back of them, and then stick them on!
