The creation of a community marketplace by the society, designed to aid those most hardly hit by the recent economic crisis. Many companies and local businesses have been scrambling to offer their merchandise profit-free in a valiant attempt to respond to this unfortunate and unfair crisis. METRO couldn’t bear to be left out of this unique opportunity for solidarity, community service and social awareness.
METRO Foods Ltd got moving and got engaged right off the bat, stocking community marketplaces and offering financial assistance on a monthly basis. This philanthropic social program has enabled METRO supermarkets to assist major counties, such as Aglantzia, Larnaka, Strovolos and Lakatamia, by providing financial contributions to counseling centers and special schools, children’s clubs and programs, assisted living facilities and early childhood education centers. All this was done with transparency, sensitivity and, most of all, with the cooperation of our valued customers who participated in a vote regarding how we should best allocate our economic assistance.
METRO’s social intervention doesn’t end here. We are fully committed to maintaining a dynamic and energetic role within our community, ever striving to provide our fellow man with unwavering support and solidarity.
