Wine and Summer

09 July 2014

The dog days are here, so raise your glasses! Just don’t fill them with red wine; it’ll make you overheat. Chilled white wine is the one to drink when the weather’s hot. It goes great with dinner on the balcony, at a party, or on a blanket under the stars. Whatever the occasion, if it’s hot, go white!

White wines are best stored at a steady temperature ranging from 8 to 12°C and are so varied that they offer a wider gamut to choose from than hard liquor.

With white wine you can choose from scores of great labels, as well as many wonderful local bulk wine producers. Also, white wine goes amazingly with summery dishes, and its fresh fruitiness just suits the season. And let’s face it, if you choose white wine, you can drink a fair bit more of it than you can hard liquor before things start to go south, thus prolonging your enjoyment. Plus, it’s cheaper! Who can argue with that?
